I’ve personally been using red light therapy for almost 2 years now and have noticed significant changes in my skin and complexion. As someone who has battled cystic acne, I felt embarrassed of all the scars left on my face.
Within a few months of consistently using red light therapy daily for 10-20 minutes, my acne scars disappeared. My skin started to look the healthiest its looked in years! Today, when I feel a pimple come on, I immediately reach for my red light, and shine it in the area of the pimple and within a day or two, it fades away.

What’s the difference between the infrared sauna and red light therapy?
Both have similar and benefits, but use different modalities. Infrared saunas rely on heat to excrete toxins from the body through sweating where red light therapy uses wavelengths of light to penetrate directly to your skin and cells promoting growth and regeneration. How long do you do it for?
My recommendation for starting anything new is slow and steady wins the race. We all react differently to different things and depending on how toxic our bodies are, we may need to ease our way into it. I recommend starting with 2 minutes daily and tapering up your time each day. I personally have worked up to 20 minutes a day and it’s a part of my morning routine before I get out of bed and start my day. I sometimes also add in an extra 10 minutes before I go to bed at night.
How far away do I hold or stand in front of the device?
The distance will look different for everyone with what feels comfortable. I generally hold my Biolight Shine about 6 inches in front of my face and keep my eyes closed. I like to make sure the light is covering my face and my neck (for thyroid support). Are all red light devices created equal?
While there are cheaper devices out there, this often comes at a cost.
